“Excuse moi, pardon, did you say never? So young, and you’ve already lost hope! This is America, the place to find hope. If you give up now, you will never find them. So never say never.”

A heartwarming film by animator Don Bluth, who monopolized the perfect kind of animation that is fondly remembered in the 80’s and early 90’s. This movie An American Tail is like no other. The score is done by James Horner and there are various songs through out the film that warm our hearts and tug at our heart strings. I’ve always enjoyed watching this movie. The music makes it even better.

The plot for those of you who have never heard of it…A young mouse named Fievel Mousekewitz (Phillip Glasser) and his family emigrate from Russia to the United States by boat after their home is destroyed by cats. During the trip, a fierce storm throws Fievel from the ship, and he loses contact with his family. Luckily, he manages to sail to New York in a bottle. There, Irish mouse Bridget (Cathianne Blore), an Italian mouse named Tony (Pat Musick) and a kindly cat named Tiger (Dom DeLuise) help Fievel search for his loved ones.

Thus the grand adventure for Fievel begins. There was large success with even the sequel Fievel Goes West, the animation is just as good if not better.
