Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada. Your mission is a dangerous one, you must leave the home you love and join the recruits to defeat the evil Xur and defend the Gate.. Yes This movie was a fun escape from reality. The director was Nick Castle and inventing the world of the Star Fighter was no easy task back in 1984. It used cutting edge technology for the time and changed the way we even look at video games.

Here is the basic plot…After finally achieving the high score on Starfighter, his favorite arcade game, everyday teenager Alex Rogan (Lance Guest) meets the game’s designer, Centauri (Robert Preston) — who reveals that he created Starfighter as a training ground for developing and recruiting actual pilots to help fight a war in space. Whisked away from the banality of his trailer park life to a distant alien planet, Alex struggles to use his video game-playing skills to pilot a real ship, with real lives at stake.

So there is the plot and the movie is a lot of fun. The score is done by Craig Safan and it takes you through electronica and orchestral mood music. You encounter the XandoXan, you get swept away in a star car and you defeat the KoDan!
